Had enough?

Federal election law bans candidates from using money raised for state campaigns on Congressional races.

Yet last Friday, the Contra Costa Times reported that the three Sacramento politicians running in this election have raised and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars campaigning for state office, while running for Congress at the same time.

Including their campaigns for Congress, the three Sacramento politicians in this race are currently running for a combined seven offices.  Unlike Congressional candidates, state candidates are able to accept money from corporations and the contribution limits are substantially higher.  And all they need to do to skirt the law is avoid mentioning their candidacy for federal office on any mailer or event paid for with state campaign funds.

West Point-trained and battle-tested, Anthony Woods knows that real leadership is about holding yourself to a higher standard and holding the line against the big-money special interests fighting real reform in Washington.

With absentee voting already underway, “undecided” in the lead and just over 20 days until the election, we are in a full sprint to show the voters of California’s 10th District that there is an alternative to politics as usual, a candidate who knows what it's like to walk in their shoes.

From our latest packed town hall meeting in Walnut Creek, to Anthony’s receipt of the first newspaper endorsement of the 10th District race, to the more than 10,000 people who have signed up to join his campaign online, we know that Anthony’s message is resonating.  But to compete with the Sacramento political machine, we must redouble our efforts to ensure we’re reaching every undecided voter.

Thank you again for all you are doing.

Campaign Director, Woods for Congress

P.S.  We are in the stretch run of this campaign, and every dollar counts.  Let’s show the Sacramento politicians that they are no match for our people-powered movement for new leadership and real world perspective in Washington.
